A: It is a mobile scanning app for iOS and Android mobile devices.
- Q: How much is it?
A: Epson DocumentScan is available free of charge.
- Q: Where can I get the app?
A: You can download it from the App Store for iOS devices or Google Play Store for Android devices.
- Q: Which OS and devices does the Epson DocumentScan support?
A: Epson DocumentScan supports Apple iPhone/iPod touch/iPad with iOS 10.0 or later and Android devices running Android 5.0 or later.
- Q: What is “Wi-Fi Infrastructure Connection”?
A: The "Wi-Fi Infrastructure Connection" means that the Scanner connects to an access point which is pre-setup.
- Q:What is “Direct Wi-Fi Connection”?
A: "Direct Wi-Fi Connection" means that the scanner can be wirelessly connected to a smartphone or tablet directly by peer-to-peer without a wireless router".
- Q: How many smart devices or PC can be connected simultaneously to the scanner in “Direct Wi-Fi Connection”?
A:Up to 4 devices can be connected to the scanner at the same time
- Q: Does “Epson DocumentScan App” support “Wi-Fi Direct Standard”?
A: No.
- Q: How to setup “Wi-Fi Infrastructure” and “Direct Wi-Fi Connection”?
A: Please follow the instruction of [Wi-Fi Infrastructure Connection] and [Direct Wi-Fi Connection] under "Select Scanner"/"Setup"/"Wi-Fi Setup Menu.
- Q:If the setup failed in the middle of “Wi-Fi Infrastructure Connection”, how to recover the settings?
A: Please try the following:
a. Set up by "Wi-Fi Infrastructure Connection" again by using CD Instraller if the user has PC.
b. Set up by "Direct Wi-Fi Connection" as recovery if the user has NO PC.
- Q:Which languages are supported in Epson DocumentScan?
A: Epson DocumentScan for iOS supports the below 11 languages.Japanese/English/French/Italian/German/Spanish/Portuguese/Dutch/Korean/Simplified Chinese/Traditional Chinese.
- Q: What are the common limitations for iOS and Android?
A:
- During scanning, if this application is switched to the background, the scan continues if the network connection is maintained when it is restored from the background, or performs an error display if it loses the network connection.
- Because of the memory constraints of the device, if the scanned image is too large, the zoom ration maybe
low.
- Q: What are the limitations unique for iOS version?
A:On the iPod and iPhone, the screen will only display in portrait orientation.
- Q: What are the limitations unique for Android version?
A:
- Depending on the device model and OS version, the screen orientation may be limited. If the display area is not enough, some button may not be visible.
- The file size of PDF output is larger than the one scanned using Epson Scan.
- Q: : What are the limitations unique for iOS version?
A:On the iPod and iPhone, the screen will only display in portrait orientation.
- Q: What scan command language is used in Epson DocumentScan?
A:EPSON Internet Scan Communication Protocol Ver.1.02 later and ESC/I 2 command.
- Q: The original document is fed into the scanner, but the scanned image is black. How to solve this issue?
A: : The document might not be fed properly, please load the document properly and try again.

A: The functions are below:
a. Scanning : Scan and acquire image from scanner.
b. Edit Documents : Re-order pages, rotate image, delete pages.
c. Save Documents : Save the file locally in device.
d. Scan Settings : Change scan settings.
e. Saved File Settings : Change the settings of file naming.
- Q: What document sizes are supported?
A: The following sizes are supported*:

- Q:What are the “Image Type” supported?
A:Below are the available "Image Type":
Color - Default | Scan in Color mode |
Grayscale | Scan in Grayscale mode |
Black & White | Scan in Black & White mode |
Auto | Automatically detect the image type. If the image contains no colour, the output is
grayscale. |
- Q:What is “Resolution”?
A:Set the scan "Resolution" for the image.
Selectable "Resolution" are as below.
Low (200dpi) - Default
Standard (300dpi)
- Q24: What is “Scanning Side”?
A: Set the "Scanning Side" of the document to scan.
Single-Sided | Scan one side of the document (Simplex Scan) |
Double-Sided | Scan both sides of the document (Duplex Scan) |
Stitch Images | Scan a folded sheet of A3 or B4 and stitch it into a single image |
- Q:Q: What is “Detect Double Feed”?
A:It detects and gives a notification when multiple sheets of document feed into the scanner at the same time.
- Default: On.
- Only available with DS-570W
- Q: What is “Skip Blank Page”?
A:It automatically detects and removes the blank pages when it save the document.
- Default: Off
- Q: What functions are available for “Manage Documents”?
A:It supports the following:
- Display Documents Displays the files scanned by Epson DocumentScan.
- Share Document Open the file in another app.
- Delete Document Delete the file.
- Q: : What is “Image Format”?
A: Saves the file to the selected format.
Available "Image Format" are as below.
- PDF (Default) | Save as PDF File
Available options:
Save all the pages as 1 PDF file.
Save file to specified destination.
File name is specified file name.
If file name is duplicate, the number (_NN) is added to the bottom. (Non over write)
(NN is assigned from 00, set duplicated number if there is any duplicated number) |
JPEG | Save as JPG image
Available options:
Save file to specified destination.
File name is specified file name.

Create Sub folder [specified file name (assigned the continuous number automatically) to the
specified saving destination and save file to created folder.
Sub folder will not be created if saved destination is [Camera Roll]
File name is assigned the page number (_NNN) at the bottom of specified file name.
NNN is assigned from 001. |
- Q:What is “Location”?
A: To set the location to save the scanned images.
Selectable "Location" are as below.

- Q: What is displayed in “View Images”?
A:Images scanned by Epson DocumentScan and saved in “This app” are displayed.
- Q:What is the maximum number of image data which can be stored in the app?
A:Up to 10,000 image data.
- Q:What happens when the maximum number of image data stored is reached?
A: An error message appears when scanning.
- Q:What is “File Name”?
A:Set the file name for the scanned image.
- Default: (yyyyMMdd-HHmm
- Tap to change the file name, the keyboard will appear.
- Maximum characters are 64
- Prohibit characters "_;:/\|,x?"
- Q:What functions are available in “Manage Scanners”?
A:The following functions are available.
